About 150 male students, ages 11 to 13, signed up for the Breakfast with Dads event, which was held on Dec.14, 2017, but Kristina Dove, the senior partner relations manager at Big Thought, a youth development nonprofit, wasn’t sure if every student would have a father present during the program.
She immediately jumped into action, using social media to call for volunteers for the event.
And on the day of the program, event organizers were overcome with emotion when 600 men showed up to support their students.
black people don’t owe you kindness in the face of your ignorance
black people don’t owe you patience in the face of your ignorance
black people don’t owe you shit
our humanity does not depend on how nice we are in the face of racism
if niceness is the threshold for you to offer your allyship, you were never going to be an ally in the first place, you just wanted the excuse not to be for your own peace of mind you selfish son of a bitch

Assassin poems, poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead.”—Amiri Baraka (via rustbeltjessie)
